Woman allegedly raped at Boomer

The walking trail at Boomer Lake Park was the scene of an alleged rape shortly after dark Tuesday.
According to a Stillwater Police Department media release, the assault occurred in the northwest portion of the park at approximately 6:30 p.m.
The victim, whose name is being withheld, reported she was walking on the trails on the west side of the park when she was approached from behind by an unknown black male wearing a black shirt and blue pants. The male forced the victim to a secluded portion of the park where he raped her.
Detectives were called to the scene and the victim was taken to Stillwater Medical Center, where she was treated and interviewed.
The area was checked by SPD and no suspect was found.
“We would urge women to use caution in the park area after dark,” said Stillwater Police Chief Norman McNickle.
McNickle urged those traveling to the park to go with a friend or group. He also said he had no knowledge of any similar incident at the park recently.
