Funny.

I'm on call for jury duty until the end of June. Kind of sucks but you just never know, I might end up listening to a really cool case. I just hope it involves drugs, hookers, and twizzler theft.

Just so long as it doesn't involve counting the wrinkles on your dog's balls.....

Its pretty funny, BUT if this is a true letter, I would be very surprised if he didn't at least get a butt chewing, if not have to spend some time in jail.

I wouldn't recommend it.

I hope if that guy is ever on trial for anything that he gets a jury made up of assholes just like him who don't want to "waste their time" being there.

In the USA we have the right to an impartial jury, that means if you get called for jury duty you suck it up and perform your civic duty. If you don't like it, move to Canada.

Amen.

If the judge had any hair on his cojone's this sucker would have spent a week in jail for contempt. Then be asked if AGAIN if he wanted to respond to a jury duty notice.

I get the feeling this guy could not take his time off from selling meth.

.....anyone with a brain knows you can't do this and serving on a jury is part of your duty as a citizen. Nevertheless, it's funny as hell, which was the point of the post, not that you shouldn't honor your jury duty commitment. Now let's get get back on topic (humor) before we skew off into another tangent lending serious credence to this guys letter.

He was threatened with jail time but didn't have to serve jury duty due to it.

According to the article, the judge was very nice about the whole situation. Gave him a little talking to, but still let him off. Pretty levelheaded, IMO

APRIL 30--There are probably better ways to avoid jury duty than the approach recently taken by a Montana man. After Erik Slye, 36, received a jury notice earlier this year, he filed a notarized affidavit seeking to be excused from serving on a District Court panel in Gallatin County. Slye's caustic affidavit, which he prepared with help from his wife Jennifer, can be found below. The document, of course, did not sit well with court officials and led a judge to threaten to jail Slye. But after being summoned to court, Slye apologized for the affidavit and avoided being cited on a criminal failure to appear rap. And he also was excused from serving on a jury.

Having served six times, including one really difficult case for me personally, I think everyone should suck it up and serve when called upon. It's one of the pillars of our democracy...

Speaking of people who don't respect the law. . . I'm sure the officers appreciated her pose for the mug shot.

I would have fun sitting on a jury.

I had jury duty back in February. I was called in for a jury pool for two trials. They both involved drugs. During the jury selection they had us stand up and tell about ourselves, what we did for a live, how long we have lived in the community, etc. I was excused from both when I stood up and said that I'm a pharmacist. I really wanted to be seated on a jury. I would have been as fair and impartial as I could possibly be.

I was on the call-in list for a while, but never got chosen to come down to the court house for selection.

I was registered to vote here in Stillwater for 19 years and never got called for jury duty. I registered to vote in Dallas County and 2 months later got my jury summons. I didn't serve on a jury though, in Dallas County, they give you a number to call on your day and it tells you whether to report or not, if it says you are not needed, that's it. I did get a free day off work though as a potential juror. I'm registered here in Stillwater so no telling if I will ever get called. My Mom has been registered here since 1949 and has yet to get called.
