WOODWARD — Former President George W. Bush will speak July 4 as part of activities at Woodward’s municipal park, officials confirmed Wednesday.
Bush will speak to celebrate Independence Day and as part of activities marking the grand reopening of Crystal Beach Park, said Michelle Hale, director of tourism and public relations for the city of Woodward.
Tickets will be sold for those wanting to be in the audience when the former president speaks, said Landon Laubhan, a Woodward promoter who is handling arrangements for the president’s speech.
When Bush will speak has not been determined, but it will be in the evening, Laubhan said.
Bush will speak in the park’s rodeo arena, which will be able to seat 10,000 people, Laubhan said. Ticket prices have not been determined yet; they will go on sale about a month before the speech, he said.
Remote television sets will be set up in an adjoining building that can accommodate about 3,000 people, Laubhan said.
"It won’t be broadcast live over any kind of TV network or radio station, so the only way that you can hear him is you actually have to come to the park,” he said.
