After six months of strenuous job hunting I am still trapped in Lexington, Kentucky - looking for the right job to open up in Tulsa.
I currently work as a Brand Manager and would prefer to stay in the marketing field in my new position - although I would be open to sales, PR, advertising, recruitment, or any similar position. I am packed and ready to go, all I need is something to come available.
I know it is just about the worst time in the history of the US to be looking for employment, but with my wife graduating from PA school in 2 weeks there is no better time for her and I to move back home.
I am hoping that one of my fellow OrangePower board members will hold the key to our return to Oklahoma. Please, if any one can help us with contacts or direction in the Tulsa area it would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
Thank you all and God bless.
Matt

Does it have to be in Tulsa? I mean, think long term. You can always try to move to Tulsa later and work in OKC, Wichita, or the Dallas area for now. Although I think Wichita is tied to the aviation industry from what I can remember. I know Koch is there and they love OSU people. Sonic may want you, they are in OKC. Walmart is next door in Arkansas and I know a few that went there. The best thing for you to do is open up your selection cities rather than just Tulsa. I'd love to work in CO, but that won't happen, at least anytime soon.

Did anything work out for you?

Nothing has worked out yet, but I'm still looking. Thank you for your advice, I will absolutely keep it in mind going forward. I have been combing the career sites and classifieds, and exploiting social networking sites since the beginning of the year. However, it seems as though there is some hope on the horizon that hiring will once again pick up (although slowly).
We are still focusing on Tulsa (in Oklahoma, but still close to my wife's family out of state), but are of course open to opportunities elsewhere, specifically OKC, Missouri, or Arkansas.
Thanks again Ultra, if you come across anything, please let me know. I appreciate your interest.

Yeah, just trying to help. I should know, I am still looking... :( I just wanted you to listen, because like you, I really wanted a few places in my head, but that just didn't work out (came close, but no cigar).
Try indeed.com and usajobs.gov. Linkedin is your friend, if you can get the social part to work for you/get your foot in the door. HireOSUgrads.com if that is your sort of thing, I just got tired of seeing "Jobs I qualify for">>> dishwasher, line cook, lumberjack camp counselor, farmer. Gee, thanks, I never knew I qualified for those HireOSUGrads!
There may be stuff in Joplin or Columbia, MO. Maybe Ft. Leonardwood?

You might go online and check out Wal-Mart and Tyson in NW Arkansas, they hire lots of mktg. pros. and Benton/Fayetteville is pretty close.

Check this site out regularly, they tend to post state government job vacancies almost every day.

It's probably already been mentioned in another thread, but have you talked to okboomerang.com? I think they're heavy on engineering/medical fields, but I'm pretty sure they deal with most fields.

A big thank you to everyone for your help. I am still looking and will be exploring all of the options that have been suggested!
Here's to hoping I can be back in the Cowboy State (or somewhere closer to it than I am now) very soon!
