I'm having trouble getting onto OrangePower.com with my home computer. (It must be a virus from down south.) Nine of ten times I type in the address and try to get on, Internet Explorer will close the tab. The last time it did this, I noticed my countdown clock had stopped. This is really hard on me. Do I need to try some of the Michael Jackson cures of a previous post, or is this something else.

Try deleting your cookies and temp internet files. Re log in and try again.

These problems can often be difficult to find and fix without a computer person actually sitting down at your computer. But here's what I would do:

First, make sure I have antivirus software installed, and that it is updated, and that I have run it recently.

Second, I'd make sure I have some malware (adware) software like:
http://www.lavasoft.com/
Most browser slowdowns and crashes are actually caused by that junk.

Make sure you uninstall any add-ons for your browser... like google or yahoo toolbars, etc.

Tools --> Internet Options --> General Tab -> Browsing History. Click Delete and clean everything out.

Those are the basics. If that doesn't solve your problem.. then try:

Reinstall internet explorer:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx
Or consider installing firefox:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ie.html
Also consider installing the latest java just in case:
http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

If it's STILL not working.
You might then want to consider a windows re-install. Nothing solves problems better than a clean slate. Make SURE you back up everything you want to keep first. But this is the guaranteed solution to any unsolveable software problem.

If it's STILL not working.
You need a new computer.

If it is still not working, before you get a new one go to:

Start >>> Run >>> type "cmd" press enter
Type "ipconfig /renew" press enter
Type "ipconfig /flushdns" press enter
Type "ipconfig /registerdns" press enter

If you are still having problems and you are running XP, google winsockxp fix or I can email it to you sometime in the next 48 hours if you desire. Double click it, run it, reboot.

Let me know if anything works or you still have problems.
