Just a heads up for my PS3 brethren. There is supposed to be some updating going on with PSN the next couple days. If you notice any errors like I have when looking at profiles, this would be the reason. So, don't worry. Nothing wrong with your bundle of joy. :D The good news is, the most likely reason for these updates are that they are adding a full chat system soon much like the Xbox 360 has. All for free. ;) Cheers!

The error code I get is 8002a10e.

All these times are European, so subtract 8 hrs for eastern, 9 for central time.

PSN: Scheduled Maintenance, 28th and 29th of July

Hey guys just a quick notice to let you know that on Tuesday 28th from 2pm to 5:30pm and on Wednesday 29th from 2pm to 6pm the PSN will be offline for scheduled maintenance. As soon as this has finished the PSN will be back online for further use.

During this time some of you might be unable to sign-in. If you are already signed in during the maintenance, some users might be signed out automatically. Any user who is signed out or unable to sign-in should be able to sign back in after approximately one minute.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Regards

yeah they have all that stuff and it is much easier to sign up than 360 is. Microsoft is fickle. at least it was for me.

It has chat, just not party chat. And not with people that are playing other games. You can only chat in games you are playing or in a separate chat room.

It has a much better arcade with real dollar/cent prices, not a ridiculous point system. It also has Playstation Home, which is a free socializing "game" with all sorts of interactive worlds where you have a fully detailed character with your own houses, clothes, costumes, accessories. It has a movie theater that plays trailers, bowling alley, Namco arcade, and every new game that comes out has it's own world that you can play mini games related to the game. For instance, one of the newer ones is Ghostbusters. You can buy the Ghostbusters firehouse and use it as your house. It's fully rendered just like in the game. It even comes with slimer. lol... There is a HUGE EA sports complex that has golfing, race cars, and a dance club with a DJ minigame. In short, home is an amazing FREE feature that you can meet up with friends and chat or meet new people. Kinda like a second life type thing. Not necessarily a game, but a virtual world/chat room.

Key word in all of this is, FREE. No yearly or monthly fees for anything. I enjoyed my xbox 360 for over two years, but the fees and lack of big exclusive games led me away to the more complete Playstation experience. The only thing that the PS3 has been lacking in the last few years is a full chat system like the 360 has, but now rumor has it, we will soon. :D

ps network is free? Didn't know that either. What makes it easier to sign-up with? I didn't think Xbox was difficult.

I know i'm asking a lot of questions but I have been a long time fan of xbox. I thought the xbox was far and away a better machine than the PS2 and felt about it alot like you probably feel about the PS3. xbox had better exclusives hardware, a hard drive and everything but PS2 had such a library and a following. I owned both. I'm sure I will end up having both of these but I'm waiting for a price drop. Or I may buy one used in a few months. I have the wii but don't get much out of it. So i am moving that to another room so the wife can play her crap on it. I really like the blue ray in the PS3 that helps me cope with the price.
