I know you were hesitant to start a thread, but many on this board have been aware of your struggle to find a job. I am thrilled to tell others here that your search has ended today!
God bless man, and good luck!

Thanks everyone! I know I can be an irritable arse in certain threads, but I really appreciate this great OSU internet community. I'm passionate in many things in life and it shows in how I talk about them online. You all are a bunch of good people and I'm glad to be a part of this Cowboy group. It feels like a 1,000 lb gorilla is off my back. I literally woke up this morning with a knot in my stomach. I was really getting depressed after I hadn't heard anything all morning. I called later in the afternoon and voila! WHEW... I ran into the other room and mauled my nephew, then proceeded to call everyone I knew who wanted me to keep them updated. lol...
Oh, and since I'll have a job, I have to fulfill a promise that I made myself. I'm buying season tickets as soon as I can!

I got the call for my first job literally as I was driving to the in-law's house to come up with another plan. I had given up. I had taken a job that fell through in Tulsa, and nothing was panning out.
I got the call, and it felt like God himself had visited me and sparred me the humiliation. My in-laws were not 100% behind me going to school, and I was about to confirm its futulity in their minds.

Yeah. 7th grade geography. My favorite subject and age.
Your first assignment is to join OKAGE The Oklahoma Alliance for Geographic Education and to attend the workshops held sadly in Norman at the OCCE building. GREAT Resources there and a good place to network.
Plus it is free. It is affiliated with National Geographic. Plus a good newsletter and some great giveaways, Handy lesson plans etc etc

Thanks!
Right now I'm living at my sister's in Edmond. She has a nice duplex and is close to moving into a new home. If she moves out any time soon, I'll likely just stay here since our family owns it and rent is pretty affordable.

I didn't want to start a thread somewhere to add this, but I AM FREAKING AWESOME!!!
I just finally got my 8th Grade US History State Test Scores back, just a few moments ago. I already had my 7th Geography and I got 13 of 15 to pass on that, which is AMAZING FOR WHERE I TEACH.
My 8th Grade got 100%! ALL OF THOSE KIDS PASSED!
I am stoked like you all wouldn't believe. Other teachers here know that we are judged by these ridiculous test scores, but this is freaking awesome!
I am so thrilled!
TAKE THAT STILLWATER!;)
BTW, that includes 2 IEP kids and a midterm transfer!;)

Lot's of reasons, but they centered on whether or not I could provide for their daughter and granddaughter.
It has proven the right choice.;)

I do too, but I have some backwoods relatives and ex-in-laws who were of the same misconception.

I fail to see where getting a degree is ever the Wrong choice.
Because from my father-in-law's perspective, I should have been out working construction or in the oil fields making a living instead of studying and having to work much lower paying jobs.
You would also have to understand the circumstances that led to my choice. I was married less than a year and my daughter had just been born. By a series of bad choices involving employment, we were living with them.
I think in some ways, not knowing me well enough, they thought I was trying to skate on working hard. Really, very few in their families had gone to college, and quite a few had pretty good livings, so it was a matter of perspective.
I assure you they feel very differently now. Instead of not knowing what to think of me they are quite proud. I have a great relationship with both of them, and I am happy to have proven their objections wrong.
Financially, I am not near out of the woods yet, but everyday it gets a little bit better.
