Interesting article in the Austin American Statesman that I believe we call agree with.
They're stating that perhaps if Mack Brown had played freshman backup quarterback Gilbert more often in UT blowouts (like the one against OSU) that the Horns may have had a better opportunity to win after Colt was injured.
Gilbert, to his credit, started off slow against a tough Alabama defense, then consistently gained more confidence as the game went on. But it was too little, too late for the Longhorns.
We, too, have our questions as to why Mike Gundy didn't allow Weedon more PT especially after he'd proven himself worthy in the CU game (we won) and after Zac continued to falter in the most important games we played (and lost).
Both Gundy and Brown need to be called to the carpet about preparing their team at the most important position on the team -- the quarterback.
Now, they're forced to go with essentially rookie starters, which may bring the team more losses while the QB learns.
Moot point, but still arguable.
