Out of curiosity, I looked up the goons schedule next year. They finally have back to back (Saturday to Saturday, no bye weeks), in conference, true away road games scheduled next year. The last time that happened, the best I could find looking quickly (didn't look too hard), was 2006. That is some Big XII home cooking with scheduling for sure.
I won't mind if they moved Bedlam up to September. That's usually when OU is ripe for the picking and have a dumb loss. They are almost always improved at the end of the season. (Until they blow their bowl game though)
The number of Bye weeks are dictated by the number of Saturdays between Labor Day and Thanksgiving. (Obviously that changes as Thanksgiving shifts around on the calendar). Due to Thanksgiving falling "late" in 2019, there was the chance for 2 bye weeks.
Since Thanksgiving comes "early" in 2020, there is only one bye week in the schedule. Nothing sinister about that by the schedule makers. Just simple math based on the number of Saturdays between the two holidays that typically define college football season.
