Blake Barnes issued a leadoff walk on 4 pitches and then surrendered 2 consecutive hits through the left side (one was a liner off Ginther's glove). Blake then fanned 3 straight Bears to get out of the jam with no damage!

0-0 going to the bottom of 1

Robbie Rea just missed a big hit down the line in LF before grounding out to SS
    Hunter Bailey drew a walk
Ginther gets a nice hit down the 1B line. Runners on 1st and 2nd
    Weidneaar goes down looking
Wes Jones goes down on a check swing.

Going to the 2nd .... still no score

Higgins is in CF today and makes the first 2 outs of the inning.
Single up the middle just gets by Bailey at SS.
Barnes gets a swinging K on a breaking ball in the dirt. Romero throws down to 1st to secure the out.

Heaed to the bottom half of the second. 0-0

Higgins looked very smooth on the first catch going back and to his right.

Romero hit a grounder into the hole on the right side of the infield but the throw from the 2B just beats him to the bag.
Zach Fish hits a liner at 2B for the second out.
Womack drops a liner into LF for a single
Higgins grounds bounces out to 2B ... but he flashed his wheels getting down the line!

Headed to the 3rd still no runs across for either team.

In the past I have tried to listen "online" to the radio stations that carry OSU baseball, but it seems like they know to take the broadcast off the web.

    Single into RF
Ball gets away Romero .... runner to 2B
Weak roller to the down the 1B line .... nice play Barnes to get the out at 1B
Grouner up the middle gets by Rea scoring 1 for the Bears.
Romero seems to gun down the runner stealing 2B but the ball pops out of the glove (didn't catch who was covering the bag)

Rea makes a nice play to catch a popup behind 1B in shallow RF
Shallow fly ball into CF and Higgins slips as he starts to come in, but he is so quick he is still able to make the play to retire the side.

1-0 MSU going to the bottom of the 3rd

Rea with a sinking liner over 2B for a single
Bailey has a weak roller just go foul down the 3rd base line (would have been an infield single). After a long AB Bailey goes down swinging. Hunter comes up gimpy and Rex thinks he might have slightly hurt himself.
Rea takes 2B on a ball that gets away from the catcher
Ginther hits a weak grounder to SS and Rea stays put at 2B
Weidenaar grounds out to end the inning.

I'm taking off but I'll check back in later on. Let's go Pokes!

Not going to pull punches today. I watched the game, and our guys looked like they couldn't give a rat's behind about being out there today. We looked so nonchalant the entire game. Our body language said "scrimmage" and MSU's body language said "game on." I am not happy at all. I hope Frank really tears into them.

Yeah, I was shocked at our performance. Bailey missed several grounders, Barnes let MSU steal all over us in the 4th, and we seemed to have problems just getting the ball back into the infield.

I am still excited to see what we can do in Fort Worth this weekend.

Yeah, it's still early and this team has a lot of upside and promise. Just really frustrated with today's pitiful performance. It easily could have been 2-1 heading into the bottom of the 9th without a bad throw from Ginther and 2 blown opportunities to throw runners out while stealing. But I don't want anyone to think I'm giving up on the team or wanting Frank fired, haha.

We'll see what happens this weekend. It will be tough. We need to at the very least come out of these next 4 games with a 7-6 overall record, then rack up the wins in a long homestand against teams we should be favored to beat like Alabama A&M, Houston, Ark. PB, and Central Ark.
