Cali says buh-bye to internal combustion engine automobiles.

Gavin is right on.

* Sure ancient Greeks had asthma but that was because of the hidden combustible engines in their chariots.
* There was never in history a wildfire before the 1900s.
* Sea levels were dropping until that evil Henry Ford figured out the assembly line.
* Although we did have massive ice sheets covering North America, just the thought of a future with climate killing engines scared them into melting away 20k years ago

A few years back this would have been a pipe dream. However, advances in battery powered semis, trucks, buses, and cars has made this all an actual reality which can happen now.

Doing it because of Climate Change is stupid and very misguided. Those climate things are still gonna happen after we have electric cars.

But having electric cars are viable, safe, and the range increases and the charge time decreases year by year where they are very much viable as a replacement to a traditional gasoline powered vehicle

Hopefully you will have a reliable electrical grid by then to charge them cars up!
the electric grid will hold to charge them.

The problem with the electric grid is its efficiency. 50% of the power is lost in transmission along the lines to the end user. Which is why the entire country is going to need the grid replaced.

We can do better than 50% loss but it is going take some serious $$$ to replace the entire grid. However, this will put TONS of people to work when they get serious about it.

Need to think in terms of Life Cycle Analysis to see what is really better.

Think of the emissions (and cost) of the plastic and steel that goes into a car if you don't use fossil fuels.
Think of the emissions (and cost) of the electricity you need if you don't use fossil fuels.

A gallon of gasoline is cheaper than a gallon of milk for a reason.

38% of all electricity in the US was created from burning fossil fuels in 2019

We are in 2020 there are Electric
Supercars
City Buses
Semi's
Trains
passenger vehicles
SUV's
etc etc etc etc.

I have no issue with the CA Gov wanting to turn to this tech for the state. It is a reality that can happen. However, to do it in the name of climate change is a joke

Except as we've seen so far, CA policies regarding vehicle emissions spills over to the rest of us. It's not just CA this will effect.

Working on airplanes . . . .
actually the US military has a huge project going for Bio Diesel that can be refined into Jet fuel. It is made in huge Algae ponds

By 2016 the Air Force had moved to 50% fuel usage from biofuels.

The entire military has a target of being fossil fuel free by 2040

And the Pentagon is the entity fueling the biofuel industry right now to meet that target

It sounds like saying fossil fuel free is actually saying we want oil companies to go out of business. Because bio diesel?? Does that have any less affect on the environment?

Why do you think 'Global Warming' turned into 'Climate Change?'

It's a bigger umbrella that you can now attribute any climate change to be caused by.

It'd be interesting to see projections of the amount of additional electicity needed if, let's say, 50% of CA vehicles were electric.
