Our record looks abysmal at 12-12, but we're not that far off from 4th or 5th in the conference. A serious winning streak and we could end up in one of those spots. The conference is generally looked on as being down this year due to all that KU lost, so we may not get as many teams in as usual. On top of that, we only have 10 teams so I don't think there's any chance we get six in like we have in the past (if memory serves).

So, how many teams will the conference send? Do we have any chance of being the last one in, even without 20 wins?

Missouri, Baylor, Kansas, Iowa State all are NCAA tourney teams.

This - and neither we nor anyone else in the conference is going to change that.

(ok, i'll give ut an outside chance, but i don't expect it)

Mizzou, Baylor, Kansas, and Iowa State should be in. Iowa State is on the good side of the bubble I think. K-State on the bad side of the bubble.

OSU, OU, Texas, and A&M go to the NIT or CBI/CIT.

OSU has to finish at .500 or better. If our non-conference schedule was easier we would be a shoe in for NIT but now it's gonna be close. If we would have played a crappy non-conference schedule, this season would look a bit different.

Judging by the results most of our opponents are putting up, we did play a crappy non-conference schedule.

Here is a look at our non-conference schedule through last night, overall and conference :

    Texas A&M CC 4-19, 3-7
    Arkansas Pine Bluff 5-19, 4-7
    UTSA 14-9, 6-3
    Stanford 16-7, 6-5
Virginia Tech 13-10, 2-6 (lost to these guys twice)
    Tulsa 14-9, 7-2
    Langston 5-18, 5-13
    Missouri State 14-11, 7-6
    Pittsburgh 15-9, 4-7
    New Mexico 19-4, 5-2
    Alabama 16-7, 5-4
    SMU 10-13, 2-7

What looked like an imposing schedule at the time doesn't really look all that impressive right now, IMO. As of today, there are probably only 3 NCAA teams on that list, Stanford, New Mexico, Alabama. And neither Lunardi nor Jerry Palm have Stanford in their brackets right now, so that is probably a stretch. Pittsburgh is going to need a run to get there.

Actually wouldn't mind seeing this "young" team get some NIT experience (maybe win a game or two) to help build their confidence. If they somehow go dancin, it's probably a one-and-done. They are getting more consistent in many areas. It has been exciting the last couple of weeks to watch their confidence grow. I am much more entertained than early on. Loving how they are finding their identity. Leadership is blooming. Go Pokes.

I agree with you, but I'm still worried about how these guys will react to the NIT. Will a McDAA and projected one-and-done be able to get up for the NIT? Will Keiton be able to bring intensity to a disappointing end to his long career?

I know that Marist is in Poughkeepsie now...I'm just saying, we don't have the best record in the NIT of late.

How about that? Nobody guessed 6. I said 4. I doubt we would have been chosen if we'd overtaken Texas in the standings. They probably would've opted to just take 5 teams from the Big 12. Still, when I started this poll we had a shot at being #6 in the league.
