Ok Cowboys. pardon the intrusion but we are tracking down rumors on the list of 7 candidates for our Louisiana Tech HC job. Joe DeForest has been mentioned from the beginning but I am trying to confirm if he is one of the 7.

The interviews are taking place today and tomorrow in Atlanta GA. My former neighbor who is now in Ohio was and is very good friends with some OSU folks and he has emailed me that from what they have heard Joe is interested and will interview.

Just trying to confirm the real validity of this. Looks like you guys are doing a lot of hiring of new coaches!

I would bet that Joe is a candidate. He is on the road, and I'm sure he will interview as he recruits the Houston area this week.

Have not heard anything. Of course it could have all been covered up in the hiring of the new OC. Joe has been up for several head coaching jobs through the years and for what ever reason he is still in Stillwater. He should be on the road recruiting right now, if his name doesn't pop up in any of the "in home" visits then we know something is up.

I saw him drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's in Stillwater, his hair was perfect (or was that Mike Gundy?).

I'm sure he is up for the job. Almost every time a smaller, non-BCS school loses its coach they usually come calling for Defo. If you guys can pony up the cash you have a good shot at landing him. He's been here for, what, 10 years?

We don't have T-boone's money but we have more than some might think!

Did he happen to catch a flight out of Tulsa to Atlanta today?

Has anyone seen him around campus?

I would call him at home but I am not that much of a nut.....

We are probably trying to pick up some of those Georgia recruits that don't want to go to Tenn anymore.

I don't think cash is the reason DeFo hasn't taken an HC job, he has just been the bridesmaid but never the bride so far.

New Mexico opted for a different direction that took them to an 1-11 season last yr (they never should've fired Rocky Long in my opinion).

LaTech was apparently in on Malzahn, not sure if he is still an option, but I think if Malzahn wants the job LaTech will give it to him.

Atlanta is just the city LaTech is interviewing coaches. Remember it was from Atlanta were Bob Stoops' agent & ND were supposedly talking. For whatever reason colleges like to interview in Atlanta.

The firm that is being used to set up interviews is there - other schools use them also. Our AD and Search committee are there. They are unusually tight lipped about this. Malzahn was a target but is 99% not in it now. They had 7 to interview.....just trying to get some info on Joe D.' whereabouts or if anything you might know.

OK, just got back from DeFo's house. He said the rumor is true that they offered him the job but he said it is a package deal, if they won't take Gundy as OC then he's not going.
