Anyone watch the HBO series opener of "Life's Too Short" last Sunday? I freaking laughed by arse off.

If you haven't you gotta catch it before the next episode on Sunday. It's a 'observational sitcom' staring Warwick Davis (of Star Wars and Willow fame), his every day life as an actor and manager of other little people. Created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, so you know it's good.

First show had Liam Neeson in it... came to Ricky and Stephen's office to tell them he wants to start doing comedy. I was in tears watching the skit of Liam doing improve with Ricky.

Whoa. That was some dry ass British humor. Right up my alley. My wife, not so much. But we were both howling at Neesom doing comedy. It's hilarious, but has zero chance of finding a wide audience. Not that they care.

My concern is that I've taken a disliking to Gervais, as he's moved from a position of what appeared to be a relatively 'smart' comic to a position of pandering to the lowest hanging fruit and being full of himself. Is he able to minimize himself in this show? I watched about the first 10-15 minutes of the first episode, wasn't hating it, wasn't really laughing, but was admittedly waiting for Gervais to come along and 'ruin it' for me.

(I know, I'm supposed to love everything Gervais does.)

I disagree. But this is America, so that's ok. I thought the scenes in his office we the best part.

Gervais does push buttons, but he's openly admitted that's his goal. To push people to just about their limit now in comedy. I think he's a genius really and I'm with Austin... the dry British sense of humor is how I am. Guess that's why the Ricky Gervais show on HBO has put me in tears before when I haven't laughed in a days.

As for Liam... I love the part where he talks to Gervais....

Liam: "Let's do some improvisational comedy"
Ricky: "Oh not now, we've can't right now really..."
Liam (interrupting): "Let's do some improvisational comedy...now"
    Ricky: "okay"

I watched the Johnny Depp episode last night. I think this episode was funnier than the first one. I'm in.

Everything I've seen Gervais and Merchant do has been genius. Adding Karl/Carl into it... make it even funnier. The Ricky Gervais show is tear jerking funny.
