Not saying he wasn't killed a week ago, but you gotta figure that if he was 1. It would've leaked from the Afghan side or Al Qaeda side and 2. Surely in such an important issue like this we could get DNA results back alot sooner than the rest of the forensic world.

So proud of our troops hanging in there and killing this evil S.O.B. For our soldiers who did not make it home alive and the innocent lives that where taken on 9/11, may they rest in peace and the almighty God did not let them die in vain. God bless our troops and may God continue to bless the United States of America. I just hope now that some of our loved ones can make it back home soon.

Sounds like they got him today. Impressive if it was made the mission of the CIA director and took an executive order to get it done.

Agreed. Great day for America. It's time like this the entire country can celebrate together. It transcends politics. Our country needs something like this right now.

StratKat, you're verbalizing what many, probably most, Americans are thinking. It is incredibly difficult to grasp just how isolated that area of the world is, how rugged the terrain is, how high those mountains are and how tribal those people are. A week is an incredibly fast turnaround. Not that we would have been using helicopters for that operation, but as an example many areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan helicopters are not capable of getting over the mountain tops and ridges because there just isn't enough air. It just boggles the mind how removed that world is from ours.

As others have and will be saying, this is one of those special moments that will unify us, if for just a short period of time. This is a day to be thankful we're Americans. And it is a day to remember the victims and their families and to appreciate the sacrifices every member of every military family has had to endure. For some it has been for the duration of the deployments, for some through physical and mental disabilities upon their return and for some, sadly, it will be forever.

I respectfully disagree. A great speech would have focused on giving credit to the brave and relentless work of our military, not on taking most of the credit himself. JMO

I'm listening to his speech again right now on CNN, and while he talks about the fact that he approved the mission, and that this was his goal....he's been thanking the family of soldiers and the soldiers themselves for the last few minutes.
