Solid choice.... Has to be better than Beebe! Welcome to the Big 12 Mr. Bowlsby. It was an absolute pleasure watching OSU beat the Cardinal in the Fiesta Bowl.

If we're poaching from the left coast, it certainly looks like the groundwork is in place for the PAC-16 or 20 to happen.

I was the next guy. I admit they probably made the right choice but I was preparing to move for OSU to become the clear face of the conference.

Apparently teaching high school social studies wasn't convincing preperation for the commish job.

I just read a fun fact about him. When he was AD at Iowa, there was this hotshot defensive coordinator at Florida, who was considered a big time up-and-coming coach. He was also an Iowa alum. He wanted the HC job at Iowa, his alma mater, but Bowlsby passed on him. So, the guy took the head job at OU instead.

This is what I love about the hire from the Big 12 site article.

"We need to do the branding and messaging that demonstrates and proliferates the solidarity that I've found from talking to folks in the Big 12," Bowlsby said. "We have to shout it from the rooftops. This is a group of 10 schools that are going to do great things, support one another and move forward together. "I think the Big 12 can do anything the Big 12 wants to do. There are terrific universities and great sports programs and I think the world is our oyster. The landscape is changing quickly and we're going to have to change with it. I am very excited about the group that we're going to go to battle with."

I also like that he was AD during the Big 10 and Pac 12 TV network deals. If he can get UT to see the light he will be a home run hire.

I love his aggressive and positive outlook. That is EXACTLY what the Big 12 needs if it wants to not just exist, but thrive. We need to be looking to be proactively pursuing schools that can solidify and strengthen our leauge to ensure we remain a power going forward. It seems like Bowlsby is taking that approach. We shall see!
