Apparently 2 mosques in Christchurch New Zealand have been attacked by shooters claiming to be white supremacists from Australia. Early reports say they live streamed the attacks

Early reports saying several dozen are dead but no official count given yet

At 49 now. 20 injured. There was a live stream of it as well as a 73 page manifesto. A young 20 something from Australia is the main culprit and speculation of a 2nd shooter at the second mosque.
Do not watch the video! I mistakenly did and wished to heaven I hadn't. Unfathomable.
Despite what some media are speculating wether he's a Trump supporter or not ( what's the difference if not an American) those who read the manifesto claim he actually supports the Chinese right wing for putting down Muslim invasions of china. I DID NOT read it so just repeating what's in the media where I am on spring break.

49 dead as racist maniac mows down worshippers in New Zealand mosques; attack possibly livestreamed
By Louis Casiano, Samuel Chamberlain| Fox News

At least 49 people killed in New Zealand from 2 mosque shootings
New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush provides update on the deadly shootings. One suspect has been charged with murder.

Four people were in custody -- one of whom was charged with murder -- after at least one heavily-armed shooter mowed down Muslim worshippers at Friday prayer, massacring 49 people in two New Zealand mosques while broadcasting a horrific live stream of the terror attack.A 28-year-old Australian-born citizen was in custody after claiming responsibility for the attacks and allegedly posting a white nationalist manifesto immediately before the murder spree. The man, who was not identified, was described by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison as “an extremist, right-wing, violent terrorist.” Of the other three people in custody -- one of whom was a woman -- officials said at least one may not be connected to the attacks. As authorities worked to determine if any other people connected to the plot remained at large, New Zealand Police Commissioner Mike Bush told mosques nationwide to “close your doors until you hear from us again.”Two improvised explosive devices were found in a vehicle after the shooting, one of which was disabled and one that police were working to defuse Friday night. It wasn't clear if the vehicle was the same one the 28-year-old suspect was seen driving in the live-streamed video of the attacks.Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said none of the suspects were on any security watch lists."These are people who I would describe as having extremist views, that have absolutely no place in New Zealand," Ardern said. Officials said 41 people were killed at the Masjid Al Noor mosque in central Christchurch and seven were slain inside the Linwood Masjid Mosque, about three miles away from Masjid Al Noor. Another person died at a local hospital.
The 28-year-old suspect reportedly published a 74-page manifesto prior to the terror attack, writing that he traveled to New Zealand to train and commit the attack.NEW ZEALAND GUNMAN APPEARS TO HAVE LIVESTREAMED MASSACREPolice were also working to remove an unconfirmed video that circulated online showing the Australian suspect entering a mosque and murdering worshippers at will. At one point, he exits the mosque to re-arm before going back inside to shoot more people. Eventually, the man flees as emergency vehicles can be heard approaching in the background."There wasn’t even time to aim, there was so many targets," the man says, chillingly, as he drives away.

Witnesses said the Masjid Al Noor mosque was full for Friday afternoon prayers when the shooting occurred. Len Peneha told the Associated Press that he saw a man dressed in black enter the mosque and then heard dozens of gunshots. That was followed by terrified mosque-goers running from the terror. A suspect was seen outside, fleeing after dropping what appeared to be a semi-automatic weapon, witnesses said.

"I saw dead people everywhere," one nearby resident said.
Another witness told TVNZ he saw three women shot and bleeding outside the mosque. A third witness said a suspect fired more than 50 shots, Stuff.co.NZ reported."He had a big gun and a lot of bullets and he came through and started shooting, like, everyone in the mosque, like, everywhere, and they have to smash the door and the glass from the window and from the small door to try and get out," he said.WITNESSES SAY MANY DEAD, INJURED IN SHOOTING AT NEW ZEALAND MOSQUERetno Marsudi, Indonesia's foreign minister, said six Indonesians were inside the Al Noor Mosque when the shooting occurred and three escaped.“We are looking for three other Indonesian citizens," Marsudi said.Members of the Bangladesh cricket team said they narrowly escaped the shooting at the same mosque. Players and coaching staff were reportedly getting off a bus when the shooting broke out. Tamim Iqbal, a batsman on the team, tweeted: “Entire team got saved from active shooters. Frightening experience and please keep us in your prayers.”
Mario Villavarayen, a strength and conditioning coach with the team, told New Zealand media the players did not see the suspect but heard shots. He said the group was shaken but unhurt.
“I spoke to one of them shortly after,” Vllavarayen said. They didn’t see anything but heard gunshots. They were at the ground and just started running. The coaching staff were all at the hotel.”
The team reportedly fled the scene on foot to Hagley Oval where it was scheduled to play New Zealand on Saturday. That match has been canceled.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I don't quite understand why this is news in America. Sure, if Muslims attack France concerts or news papers we hear about it, but the coverage of this reversal seems a bit over the top ATM.

None of those other countries have our Constitution and freedoms, so I'm not sure why our press tries to present it to us in that context.

To me, it's the summation of all previous outrages all rolled into one. A show of oneuptism. I just warned not to see the video but once you see and hear it, you'll understand. It's about 20 min and shows him driving like 5 min on the way to attack. The attack. Retreat. Reattack. You hear the pleas for mercy and the see the answer. Just pure pure evil.

I disagree. I'd rather see the rest of their lives be made a living hell than give them the easy out...
I'm glad they are captured too...I'd like to learn from them and to me when these guys commit these atrocities and then commit suicide I can't help but feel like they escaped justice...

It is probably unlikely the prayer goer wasn't carrying a rifle or shotgun to the Mosque to pray. Did the mosque have a rifle or shotgun on site??

****EDIT****

Found that survivors said one of the people at the Mosque attacked one of the shooters and took his gun and then used it to shoot back at them

Left news outlets blaming Trump and the NRA for New Zealand and Fox and Friends is blaming Socialism and somehow brought up AOC when talking about New Zealand.

Our media is a complete freaking joke
They probably brought up AOC because she instantly politicized this on twitter and has been getting reamed...

ABC news report from the shooters manifesto he wrote

Were/are you a supporter of Donald Trump?" the author of the manifesto wrote. "As a symbol of renewed white identity and common purpose? Sure. As a policy maker and leader? Dear god no

This conflict over the 2nd amendment and the attempted removal of firearms rights will ultimately result in a civil war that will eventually balkanize the US along political, cultural and, most importantly, racial lines," the manifesto said.

In the manifesto the shooter claims he had moved from Australia to new Zealand 2 years ago to train and prepare for this attack

Said it was not his first Target but he picked New Zealand to carry it out as it is often viewed as one of the safest countries in the world

He also listed Dylan Roof as one of his sources of inspiration for his attack

Australian Senator Fraser Anning said today

“Whilst this kind of violent vigilantism can never be justified, what it highlights is the growing fear within our community, both in Australia and New Zealand, of the increasing Muslim presence,” he wrote. “Let us be clear, while Muslims may have been the victims today, usually they are the perpetrators.”

In August 2018 he called for a "Final Solution" to Muslim immigration and called for a vote to ban and remove all Muslims from Australia
