I am about to get laid off in June and am starting to look around for work. I have been a Heavy Equipment Operator at Fort Sill for the past three years specalizing in erosion control. I hear stories of guys in the oil field bringing home $4500 + each month being a frac hand and would like to get in on some of that action. I would perfer to stay in OK but am willing to work a rotation if I have to. I am looking for some info on the better companies to work for out there. Any help is appreciated

Do you happen to have the name fo some companies that do that kind of work? I am having a hard time finding finding a specific companiy that does that. I have done that type of work for a short period a couple of years ago. I would rather sit in a cab pushing rock and dirt than stand on an oil rig in Nort Dakota anyday of the week. Where are you at ?

Have you looked at the giants like Schlumberger or Baker Hughes? Start there and work down. There are a lot of downhole oil field companies in OKC, Tulsa, and if you're willing to move to Houston, there are a LOT of companies down there that need on location workers.

God forbidding, if you're also willing, there are a lot in western Texas, but bless yo heart if your ass to go down there. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemies.

I put in my app @ Superior on Friday, the recepiontist said there is a hiring freeze right now. I know a guy up there and says he bring home between 4500 and 6000 per month. Sure would be nice to do that for a year or so and put alot of that in the bank! He also said the furnish 2 meals per day and give $50 per diem, 12 hours on the rig but clock 16 per day, anything over 80 hrs is time and a half. Here is to hopin I get an offer

I saw an ad in Houston over the weekend for www.rigzone.com

It's supposed to have tons of oil and gas jobs, but I have not checked it out.

There's been a pretty big boom out in Weatherford, OK. My wife has family out there and my job involves contract work for oil and gas companies and I can attest that there's a LOT of drilling going on out there. Devon is also supposedly building a big new office out there. Could be worth looking in to.

I know nothing about the oil and gas industry, but my mother (in Enid) says the oil and gas industry around there is providing lots of employment. Might want to check Continental Resources if you haven't already.

Oil and Gas is booming in Wyoming. Check out Casper and Gillette companies. The area around Cheyenne is heating up also!

Here in Fort Worth one of our staff recently resigned to work up in Oklahoma where they are building some sort of Pipeline. It is with a company that is associated with Chesepeake. He was a Corrections Officer and he will be doing some sort Security work. Apparently he doubled his salary and his family is staying in Texas and he will drive home on weekends. The oil companies are having serious issues with sabatoge and destroying property and they are having to go high tech with security. He indicated that some of the other Oil companies have actually messed up or sabatoged machines used in the fracking process and somehow these pipelines projects are very high security and government regulated requiring 24 hour security.
