Rx.... I call largemouth based on coloring and head. I've been pondering this awhile.

The video is a little lacking, but the song is excellent.

This is the best way to check. That and the mouth socket does not extend behind the eye. When you're on a slot lake, you need to know. Those are the two ways we check. The tongue check you can do in the dark without bothering to pull out your light.

    Rio Grande Cutthroat

We ate some of the Brookies. All of the Cutthroat went right back in the river.

Great Mahi. I remember catching those off the coast of Costa Rica until we couldn't move our arms anymore!

I forgot about catching a Mahi. Caught this off the Kona Coast; last year actually. P4090565.JPG
And a Stripped Marlin. The Marlin didn't come out of the water. I landed two on that trip, along with a short nosed spearfish. For some reason, there are no pics of the snort nose. The captain said the Marlin were probably a little over 100 lbs. You can see the lure in his mouth, so for scale, here's a lure. By far the largest thing I've ever caught. P4090560.JPG

It is so dry this summer that I caught a fish and it had a tick on it! That being said, here is one I caught last summer in S.E. Alaska. A 224.3 pound 75" Halibut.

I agree with you. The upper jaw on a spot will finish out just under the eye without going past the eye.

I'll bet it felt like a shark on a lite rig. Some nice paper-mouths in that pic, too. Good eatin'.

I love my ultra-lite tackle. My 3 wt fly rod with a 6x tippet makes catching blue gill an adventure.

That looks like a Flathead. What did his tail look like? Have a V in it, or was it squared off?
