Listening to RA and he just said it looks like Brandon Shepherd will qualify and that there is a decent possibility that Jessie Vester will qualify.

I heard the same thing. Really good news about Shepherd. If Vester qualifies he may have to gray shirt the first semester. Sounds like we would not have room for him because of the numbers.

Haven't we already had a couple of guys leave? I know Harrison is gone, and Justin Southwell left as well (although I'm unsure if he had a scholarship)

Southwell was not on scholarship. Isaac McCoy left as well.

I'm so confused on the Shepard thing. Is there actually a risk of him not qualifying?

I think we were supposed to award couple of walk-ons (deep snapper and holder) scholarships, if the numbers are tight they may not get those 'ships.

I don't think there will be a problem having room for Shepard but Vester would be a shocker for the coaches.

Shepherd has a decent chance at making an impact next year at the WR spot if he can qualify! Vester is a good player but even if he did qualify I would be surprised if he played.

Hopefully they both find ways onto the team and get schollys that they were offered!

When a walkon reaches their Junior year and is awarded a scholarship, the scholarship counts differently, there are other rules attached and I cannot remeber the specifics, but in some circumstances it does not count against the 85 total number

So we drop two WR's ( one we know was very good, but the Ark. kid/McCoy not sure?) and we add two wr's. Sounds a lot like SEC recruiting huh? Also H. Nutt was famous for this practice. Anyone hearing that we might actually take 2 qb's in this next class????

I think you are correct. I recall that some schools often use the for the kicker/punters. Ask them to walk on for 2 years then get a scholarship their Jr year. (that said, I'm glad most of the time we give our kickers/punters scholarships as we get good ones !).

Why would we take two QBs unless one of the current ones transfers?

Agree. With Chelf, Walsh, Lunt and Garman, it seems like a really silly idea to take two. Gundy has voiced that one seems to inevitably transfer if you take two in the same class, and we'll have 4 'ships tied up into QBs in 2013 already.

Walsh needs to win the QB battle. Then we probably don't need one next year if Lunt RS. Take one again in 2014.
