Likely because the rust belt has been devastated by job loss and opioids.
Well that's their own fault. The people there should just stop being unemployed and addicted to pain kills their doctors prescribed them for getting hurt doing jobs that robots do now. They should just suck it up and move somewhere better.

https://www.yang2020.com/policies/close-skills-gap-community-college/

A lot of ink has been spilled over the skills gap – the space between skills those seeking work have and those hiring want. There’s a simple solution to this problem: community colleges.

All community colleges should be funded at a level to make tuition free or nearly-free for anyone, especially those who are taking vocational classes. The government can be involved, but businesses should also be encouraged to invest in their area’s community colleges, both to create stronger ties to their communities and better access to this potential workforce.
There's a reason that Tulsa County is actually doing well in spite of the state trying to put a stop to it.

Please show your preferred candidate and details of policies that are federal specific only and do not involve a "bully-pulpit" so that I can see if I agree with you and will change my vote.
I don't have one yet...and I prefer that all candidates stick to things the Fed's can actually do rather than bleed over into issues where they have no responsibility.

Is someone going to vote for Yang because he wants to change Zoning in SanFran when he has no ability to control a local decision? I'm sure some would vote for him because he wants the government to pay for people to move to new states but that will never get through Congress and I'm sure the states would be fighting that as well.

Can you think of one kid you know that's in college who is working a good paying summer job such as construction?
They don't get hired. The one summer that I came home I went to several farms north of where I grew up to try to get hand jobs, none would take me on because they either had machines that could do it or they had people they knew would stick around for more than two months. Same with going out west to push pipe around. Same with going down to the nice area of the larger city and trying to get a valet job.

This was 10 years ago... can you imagine how difficult it is now? Getting a summer job is really hard now.

Ohio has more colleges and universities per capita than Texas, but when UT reaches $30B they should build and fund a university in Ohio? I do not see the logic in this policy.

Yeah that's obviously a ridiculous policy that I don't agree with at all. Not being sarcastic.

I don't even think that the UT system should do more than it already does to help with outreach around the state... we just need to destigmatize going to a school like UT-Arlington or UT-Tyler for a year or two.

You're taking his question on face value, like a couple of us did.

The real intent of that simple sentence was to say that illegals are taking all the jobs college kids used to get.

Yes, I know, confusing to say the least, unless you're Kreskin.

dude 1: Go Pokes !!!
dude 2: The Cowboys SUCK!
dude 1: Why do you say that? I like my school and we have pretty good teams.
dude 2: You guys stink at recruiting. You guys sort of cheated a few times. You have some ugly uniforms.
dude 1: Hmmm, ok, who do you think is better based on those criteria or really any criteria?
dude 2: Oh, I don't have a team. But, did I mention, the Cowboys really SUCK!

I thought I derailed your thread. Interesting that you continue to help with that.

The dems are just handing out money as a platform.... Yang UBI..... Warren student loan forgiveness..... Booker and Williamson reparations....

The alternative is douche bag Trump.

I'd cut off a finger for a smart person with actual ideas to advance the country.
You mean like cutting taxes and regulations so that the stock market goes up, average wages increase, unemployment goes down?

OR

Like removing and downsizing troops in Iraq and Afghanistan after mostly mopping up the job in order to save American lives and reduce spending on foreign wars?

OR

Getting rocket man to stop sending rockets up?

Certainly the guys a douche bag, but he's been good for the economy so far and he's OUR douche bag...it what it is, but I certainly don't trust ANY of the other guys or girls the Dems are running to do a better job in the gridlock and division that is our Federal Government. Santa Clause (Dem Candidate's) may say he's coming to town...but he/she really doesn't exist. Sadly.

UT System locations (All UT <insert location name>)
Arlington, Austin, Dallas, El Paso, Permian Basin, Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, Tyler

A/M System locations
College Station, Prairie View (PV A&M), TAMU-Commerce, Stephenville (Tarleton State), Canyon (West Texas A&M), TAMU-Kingsville, TAMU-Corpus Christi, Laredo (TAMU International), TAMU-Texarkana, Killeen (TAMU-Central Texas), TAMU-San Antonio

The Texas State University system has four schools, TTU system has two, UH has four schools, and the UNT system has two schools. Each also has medical schools that are not included in the list.

I completely concur. Here in Texas, the scholastic outreach is significant. Hell, tiny Alpine, Texas in Big Bend country even has a university.

Sul Ross State. I got a tee shirt on my last trip because I reckon it's only a matter of time before folks start calling for the school to change its name.

Damnit, I was just down there (the only reason I knew about the school) and thought the same thing when I looked up what the heck a "Sul Ross" is, and it never dawned on me to pick up a shirt. Only a matter of time before the name changes.

He didn't miss the memo, he isn't part of that, Mr. Team Trump. You asked for one, here are 12. Now, I fulfilled your request, so please show me the policies from your preferred candidate. Otherwise, it just looks like pointless whining with no real solution.

Well these are MOAR GOVERNMENT, but of course, it is the government that you want so I suspect you would not complain about that. Just like the other pigs people that benefit from the other ideas don't complain about the ones that help them. Your complaint is the usual, LESS GOVERNMENT! well, except the parts that I want, let's keep those parts, but still LESS GOVERNMENT!!

You're right, it is all pretty much MOAR GOVERNMENT. Yeah, I do agree that the last two are problems that need solutions. The second one is the only one that I see as a federal problem that requires a government solution. There are several things about that I think it is just insane for the federal government to get involved in... local zoning? Sheez.
