If it's all about eyeballs and national brand, why not go after Sanford and get at least some foothold in CA?

Seems like the top 4 would be Oregon, Washington, Sanford and Utah if that deal could get done. If Oregon and Wash hold out for Big10 invites, then maybe you have to sub in AZ and AZ State.

Colorado belongs in a regional conference with Co State, Boise St, Wash St, Oregon St, etc. They add nothing to a super conference.

I’m not sure S(t)anford gets you to much of a foothold in California. They have very little interest from their own alumni much less the rest of the state. They have also been attempting to cut teams left and right over the last few years. They tried using COVID as an excuse, now they can use the lack of conference payout as one. A lot faculty members there apparently don’t think any admission spots should be reserved for sports.

Exciting times! The PAC has several enticing schools that would bolster the Big12. I still like the additions of Cinci, Houston, and BYU, but is it too late to get a refund on UCF?

Stanford makes no sense at all and would be the least desirable PAC 12 school with Berkeley being a close second. Can you imagine the horror of the Trees coming to Stillwater and Morgantown where guns are fired on field? Their liberal condescending fans would boycott both places. Utah makes sense because of BYU. After that just about anybody rather than Stanford. If we want to get into the California market SDSU, even though it’s not a PAC12 school is a much better fit culturally and probably gives you more of California than Stanford.

You would choose SDSU over Stanford because you're afraid of liberals? That's easily the worst argument for/against an expansion candidate that I've seen.

Would get me fired up to see Pete ride out to the 50 yard line before a game, jump off of a bicycle, and fire a huge water gun into the air. Followed immediately by the band taking the field, and then opening a lane for a Spirit Rider to run down the field on a stick horse. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.

San Diego St is also building a new stadium. Also a large untapped tv market.
