Moving up from #4 to #3 would be great - keeps us away from a potential #1 matchup - but there's not much benefit moving from #3 to #2.

Man, it's so nice to be discussing seeds again!

As more bracket updates continue to come out today, they seem to be holding Ohio State as a 2 seed. I just don’t understand how you can lose 4 games in a row and not drop.

Yes, but that only happens if we make the sweet 16. At this point, I'd very much be happy to have that problem. It's been 16 years since we made it that far.

Newest Bracketology still has us listed as a 4-seed. But we are in the regional with Illinois. I think if we beat West Virginia on Thursday then we switch with them and get the 3-seed. Just a guess though.

More likely we switch with Villanova or Florida St for a three seed if we win. I'd argue we should be a three seed over those two right now since both lost to terrible teams on Saturday.

Bracket Matrix has us at a 4.05 average from an average seeding of 103 bracketologies. Just behind Villanova, Texas, and Kansas and just in front of Florida State. I wonder if us moving up the AP Poll will help. Maybe the bracket people that have us as a 4 will start moving us to a 3 when they no longer see a 17 by our name.

If Ohio State can lose 4 straight games (granted 3 to top 10 opponents) and just fall from a 1 to a 2, then the Baylor loss should not affect us at all.

Shows Florida State as a 5 and Oklahoma State as a 4.

Ohio State as a 2. I don't know how they are getting a free pass on going 0-4 over the last two weeks with 3 of those games at HOME. Lost by 16 at home against Iowa and lost at Michigan State. Other two losses were home against Michigan and Illinois.

I think Villanova needs to at make their Finals to stay a 3 seed. They have a NET 11, so they are right on the 3/4 edge. Plus the loss of their best player.

Palm also has Ohio State as a 2, Villanova as a 3, and Oklahoma State as a 4.

Seems like the love for the BIG10 will not allow Ohio State to drop. Big 10 Tourney, they play MIN/NW winner, then Purdue, then Michigan. Not sure a loss to Purdue will hurt them enough.

Nova plays winner of Marq/Georgetown, then Seton Hall/St Johns, then Creighton. Loss to Marq/Georgetown should drop them.

NOVA dropping and us beating WV is probably the only way we move up to the 3 line.

It seems to me like we are a 4 and maybe a 5 if we lose round 1 of the Big XII tournament and a 3 maybe a 4 if we can win a game. If we lost to Baylor again shouldn’t hurt us. If we make the Championship round with a win over Baylor then I think it is possible we come away with a 2 seed.

Staying off the 5 line is very important. 15% of 3 seed have lost to 14s while 21% of 4 seeds have lost to 13s. 5 seeds lose 36% of the time to 12s and 6s lose 37% of the time to 11s.

This year, I think the move from a 4 seed to a 3 seed is pretty important for OSU this year. Of the potential matchups with a dominant scoring big man, 3 (Gonzaga, Michigan, and Illinois) are 1 seeds and they wouldn’t match us up with Baylor. While only 1 (Iowa) is a 2 seed. So, getting a 3 helps our chances of winning the 1st game decently and getting a better sweet 16 matchup by quite a bit.

I’d much rather play Alabama, Iowa, Ohio State, Houston or Arkansas than Gonzaga, Michigan, or Illinois (I think they are virtually locked in as 1 seeds). Maybe Iowa and Illinois flip flop if Iowa beats them in their 2nd Big Ten tourney game but we’d rather avoid Iowa too.

I think the committee may drop Villanova just due to the fact they lost their best player to injury and their 3rd leading scorer went down against Providence with a “pretty severe” sprained ankle. Bad luck for them but I don’t think the committee will ignore it.

I don’t know if Lunardi and Palm are just ignoring that since they can’t predict what the committee will do so they stick to resumes???

We all hope this is the case, however I worry they won't drop BECAUSE they lost their best player. They'll twist it somehow that the team shouldn't suffer b/c of an injury. Wouldn't be the first time something like that has occurred.

As much enjoyment as I would receive from knocking Underwear out of the tournament, I think we'd struggle defending the beast big man he has.

too much effort to type "St." after #12 I guess. WVU, whom we just beat, on the road, on senior day, preventing Huggies 900th win, without our two best players...being ranked above us is ...Arkansas, whom we beat on the road is same. We are top 10 worthy right now...Will have to play into the sweet 16 at least to get ANY respect due.

Here you can see how all the AP voters voted this week. I think you can click on it for a larger view if I post it right. We have votes from 8th all the way to someone not even ranking us...
