For comparison:
Avery Anderson as a sophomore: 12.2 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.5 SPG
Sahvir Wheeler as a sophomore: 14.0 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 7.4 APG, 1.7 SPG

In all fairness, AA probably would've had better numbers without Cunningham, but Wheeler looks like he can play. He would be a quality addition to our roster. Hopefully we can add another shooter as well.
Wow, is that assist number right?? If so, clearly, he's got skills with the ball in his hands.

I guess I'm in the minority - I think we need another ballhandler. Sure, I'd prefer a pure shooter, but I think Ice has some issues vs pressure. And I know Wheeler had poor turnover numbers, hopefully that's not from just trying to get the ball across the time line.

Those numbers are correct. He led Georgia last year in scoring & assists, and he was named second team All-SEC. I've only watched highlights, but he appears to have really good vision. He likes to score and create off the dribble. His ability to get to the rim and score at 5'-8" is really impressive.

We'll see what happens. Coach Boynton and his staff have their work cut out for them going up against Kansas & Kentucky. I hope they can find a way to pull it off. It would be nice to have a 2nd true point guard on the roster besides just Ice.

Looks like we made his final four. This would be a huge get for us!

And just look at all those desperate Kansas fans in the comments. Those guys need to realize they are about to lose self cuz I bet he'll resign before he deals with potential violations.

I am wondering if we will take one or two more in this recruiting class. I know we have two scholarships to give, but without knowing the NCAA decision do we leave one open?

You take two. The NCAA won't take one away after the fact. They would make it effective the next year. They're not going to make you strip a kid of a scholly.

This Wheeler kid would be a good get. But I would be concerned we would be starting Wheeler, AA, and Ice -- MA and Kalib. Not much shooting there.

More than likely the scholarship restriction isn't being overturned. Just the postseason ban.

Boynton suggested recruiting news this week is coming while commenting on a photo of him, Sean, Eddie, and Larry Reece on twitter. Wheeler or Thompson?

Not sure we needed another 3/4. Definitely need a proven guard yet.....then I would say best available or someone with big upside.
Agreed. Given our experience with Flavors last season, it doesn't seem smart to bring in a one-tool specialist (your mileage may vary). Let's go with best available and put the best 5 on the floor.

He just got the Gundy contract. He’s not resigning. He can play out his 5 year rolling contract whenever sanctions come down and they may fire him, but then he still gets paid. Resign and he doesn’t get anything.

Knowing we have Avery, this is how our team is currently built.

PG -- Ice, Avery

2/3 -- Walker, (Maybe B. Williams),D. Williams, Harris

3/4 -- Keylan, Newton

4 -- MAM

5 -- Kalib, Tyreek, Kouma

We absolutely need a PG. Of course we do. Agreed. Ice needs to come off the bench. He can't shoot and it's killing us. He played terribly against Oregon State. He kicked the ball off his foot twice to tie or take the lead in 2nd half. I mean he just flat was unplayable against them. I know he is better than that but he is NOT starter unless he steps it up. His lack of shooting destroy you in today's game. Now some games he can play but honestly he needs to be on the bench more next year.

I think Ice and AA are on the floor at the same time more often than not.
I think they both start and play 30plus minutes. I'm just putting them in categories of their skillset. And neither one of them are a true PG per se. It's why the Wheeler kid makes sense in finding a true PG. But then your 3 best guards might be him, AA and Ice....leaving us without much shooting out there when you add MAM and Kalib to that picture.
