There are completely incorrect claims of socialism on this board all the time and they are not all coming from @StillwaterTownie.

And, the funny thing is, the over-the-top claims of socialism for every disliked policy proposal are probably backfiring in the long term:

Furthermore, critics of the president keep calling Obama a socialist. Millennials like Obama, (52% still approve of him) and thus perhaps the critics' constant barrage of socialist name-calling has bolstered millennials' opinion of the word, rather than tainted Obama's image.
Socialism redefined yet again.

The collective society without a Government is communism as defined by Marx and Lennin. Socialism is the middle ground where the government takes over and to date has become tyrannical every time. Maybe next time it will be different and we can progress to the true ideal of communism rather than having a civil war to bring back capitalism and freedom. History says that's not gonna happen though.

What are you talking about redefined? The image said exactly what you said it just used the words "moves toward" instead of saying "middle ground."

It's incorporating the change from a socialist government controlled society to a communist government free utopia and saying it's all socialism.

It's not communism comes after the workers revolt and overthrow the government because they realize they don't need it bringing in a new system without government after the revolution. The final system in communist theory is communism not socialism. Socialism is the middle stepping stone to reach communism where the government controls the collective.

Your definition forgets to mention the civil war communist theorist tell us has to happen to break free of socialism.

Where else but Stillwater
Which further illustrates the absurd premise held by Townie that emergency services constitute Socialism....is patently false.
Like it or not, public emergency services, such as the fire department, are often NOT privately owned and come about from the enforced redistribution of wealth going to the government to fund them. If that doesn't sound socialist to you, then fine.

Redistribution of wealth is taxing the rich and giving to the poor in whatever manner you want to call it, but welfare or entitlement are the prime examples.
Taxes that are spent to provide emergency services is NOT a redistribution of wealth. If that were the case, rich people would still pay their taxes which support the fire department, but the department would only respond to events involving poor people.

Just how long are you going to run with this? You are clearly out on your own island with this absurd premise.

You are trying very hard to be disagreeable. It does not do any of what you just said at all.
You are reading a huge amount of words that are simply not there into a brief definition.

Your little definition is lumping two ideologies and calling them the same. The end of your meme is the textbook definition of the communist enlightenment. What happens when the people finally cast off socialism. Only problem is historically they have always cast it off for capitalism.

The minor nuances the left does to control and remake language to support their agenda fascinates me. The redefining of socialism over the past couple of decades to make it sound more palatable is both fascinating and terrifying. Terrifying because it's working and they are getting the young to buy in.

LOL. Ok, so you are saying that this defintion is claiming that it is all socialism while also claiming that it is telling us what they want when they "casting off socialism." Gotcha. Your point is very clear now. You are correct. No need for further clarification at all. They are trying to cast it off to call it the same thing.

lol , you argue with everyone. Sometimes you could possibly be arguing with yourself.

In other words, your post had nothing to do with what we were discussing. It was just a random cheap shot at me because my personal opinions do not agree with the other people that hang out on this board. And that makes me the argumentative one? Gotcha.

Funny, I've never seen a one sided argument before like you all claim that I perpetrate around here. But, I think you are right. There is really never discussion left, it is pot shots and forced agreement or ridicule.

You were honestly one of the few left that typically just discussed. I guess you guys are gonna love it when it is all agreement, and Townie.

I like a good open discussion. People have to have open discussion with the ability to see the other side as well.

You both are stubborn and was a shot at both of you. Hence "pot meet kettle"
