Wasn't it Dicamillo that came really close to beating Heil at the Scuffle?
Heil wins 6-3!
I'll say this bout Heil. It's fun watching guys like Dieringer dominate, but there wasn't a match this season of Heil's that I wasn't on the edge of my seat at some point during. Good for him.
I think that locks us in for 3rd right?
SPOILER ALERT: Update of champions through five weights for anyone not able to watch. They started at 197.
197 Cox - Missouri
HWT Snyder - tOSU
125 Cruz - Lehigh
133 Clark - Iowa
141 Heil - OSU COWBOYS!
That it so far.
I believe so
For those who couldn't watch it on TV, kid Heil was wrestling is from his hometown and they don't like each other. They have wrestled since peewee wrestling, and Heil denied him a high school championship, a southern scuffle championship and now a national championship.

Heil: "I couldn't be more thankful for the guys on our team that push me. It's those guys who are the most important to this program."
Probably took his lunch money too.
IMart got stuck, wow.
PSU could start the season with 6 #1s and only 1 will be a senior...
PSU is scoring bonus points in the semis and finals like I've never seen before in my life. They are truly a powerhouse program right now. Right now it's them and everyone else fighting for second place year in and year out. Hopefully we can level the playing field in the next couple of years.
Turned this on a little while ago. All I've seen is Penn St. champs. Today f!@#ing sucks sports-wise.
While I'm in a cranky mood I'll just drop this little factoid. The consensus is Penn State has taken over the sport at the moment. It's more than that. Looking at national championships and top 2 finishes, we are in a 3 way tie for 4th in the last 10 years.
You are pouring salt on the wounds.

You and others have mentioned this, and I elaborated a bit on one specific story regarding it in the AV, but the exodus of assistant coaches has had a big impact on OSU. Pat Smith is one that's well documented, but I don't think that stat and the fact the fact that he left about 10 years ago is a coincidence. We also lost Branch, Pendleton, even Munoz, and a bunch of other guys around then too. They're stock was really hot after we won the 4 straight.
The transition years right after that were really rough. A lot worse than currently, but it was sort of masked because we had a bunch of titles from a few years prior.
We are and have been trending back in the right direction, but unfortunately have to deal with a team that has a lot more ammo currently and had 5 underclassmen win individual NCAA titles last night.
From 2007-2010, roughly here's just some of what happened with OSU as far assistant's go.
Branch went to Wyoming and took Pendleton with him. Mark Cody came back to OU and picked up Tyrone Lewis. Pat Smith was forced to step down. Kevin Ward went to OBU, Jamil Kelly went to Stanford, and a bunch of the other top wrestlers/coaches of that group went onto MMA-Cormier, Hendricks, Roller, Rosholt, and one of the top assistants at the time Munoz.
You can't fault any one of those guys for doing that, but that took OSU from having an off the charts room to a pretty limited one. IMO that's probably the biggest internal issue that OSU's had recently, which I don't really know that you can blame Smith for that.
Can we blame Holder? I'm in the mood to do that these days.
