More than would make them the 10th highest paid coach in a 10 team league, apparently.
Mods, what are the chances of getting rid of Underwood's big head emoji and getting a Coach Boynton to replace it? :underwood:
What makes anybody think that if Holder couldn't do what was necessary to keep a small town guy raised just north on I-35 who embraced our Iba/Sutton tradition, that he can keep a big city guy from Brooklyn once he get's offers from schools back east. It ain't happening. Thanks Holder for your lack of vision which has resulted into us being a stepping stone job again. I'm still just sick to my stomach that we've lost Underwood. He was our best shot at getting us back to being among the Big XII's elite again.
It's over. Done. Underwood is gone. He's not coming back. Neither is Eddie. Move on.
And Iba ain't coming back either, I know that, but we sill have the problem (Holder) Don't tell me how long to grieve, that's my business and the length of time isn't the same for everybody. I'll get there eventually (on my clock, not yours)
I think we have needless worries. Boynton has yet to coach one game, yet some fans are already worrying that if he succeeds we cannot keep him. Open hand policy. What flies away was not yours to keep anyway. If someone prefers the big lights of the East coast over a cow town, so be it. One step at a time. If he creates real success for the team then perhaps another really good coach would be attracted to coming to OSU if Boyton sells out for big bucks elsewhere? I think it would be great if he takes the team to a new level. Holder gets paid to have these worries, not us. Look what happened the last time Holder was so worried he might lose a coach that he tied him up with a crazy contract and then ended up cutting the ropes. Let life take its natural course.
It is painfully obvious that BU was all about himself. And if he really did say some of the things he is reported to have said to Phil Forte, then I'm glad he's gone.
Brad's ego will eventually be his demise. Just using kids to boost his self-image. He will now see what it is like to be in a conference with way too many teams. His chances of making it to the top of the Big Ten is slim. Illinois just is never good enough to climb that high most of the time in any sport.
Im curious, what did he say to Phil Forte?
It was commented on this site, that BU told Phil, (paraphrase) You have never played in a meaningful game in your career. And according to comments on this site, Phil went to BU's son for clarification and got the same comment from him.
What did he say to him?
That he never won anything that mattered or something to that effect.
@OP 9000 or @Doafhat should be able to fix that
Well......what has Phil Forte won that would make Underwear's statement false?
The first Bedlam game this past season at least.
Only about 83+ games over 4+ years.
Do two Texas high school state championships count as meaningful?
(which includes making six straight free throws as a senior to ice the game)
We don't know he will leave. Nothing is for sure. We were so certain that Underwood was here for the long haul and he turned out to be someone with seemingly little to no values / real desire to stay in Stillwater. Let's just see what happens.
