What is your reasoning for this statement?
Never heard this kid was any good, watched a few games and he was too spotty from what I saw. Plus, we have plenty of talent here and now at the QB spot, why waste a scholly spot if it's not needed, especially on something that isn't for sure.
That was more meant as who of our coaches have said we are interested. Not another outside source.
Being up here I had the chance to see him quite a bit. He looked like he was destined for awesome tthings after seeing him as a frosh, but regressed (probably due to coaching) in his soph season. But you can definitely tell the talent is there .. not many people happy with them letting Friedgen go after being fairly successful, albeit on and off..
Our coaches never go public with things like this. Even with coaching hires. Don't expect Gundy to hold a press conference any time soon to talk about this kid.
Gundy always keeps his cards close to the vest.
I'm on this boat. Thought he was going to be speaking at OSU.
Well he is good enough to start for a D1 team. Why not add some extra competition to the QB race? If we took a scholarship from somebody to give to him I doubt that person would have ever played a down here anyway.
we. don't. know. that. quite. yet.
ORANGE PEEL IS BACK BABY! Oh, this is about some Irish QB who graduated college in 3 years from an AAU school. Sounds really boring.
He was also benched, and just cause they're good enough to start doesn't mean that they are a good QB, take a look at Texas past two years. We don't need any more competition at the QB spot. No one knows who will start so the spot is being competed for everyday by 3 QBs as we speak. I love what we have already, we don't need to go looking for someone else at a position we're already stacked at. And why take one away, and give it to someone else who probably won't ever play a down here as well.
If you believe that, then I say you don't believe in this team.
Take a look at Bobby Reid...
What if the coaches disagree with you? Not saying they do, but if by some chance we end up with this guy, it means our coaches went out and recruited him to come here.
How do we know we're stacked?
If they do, then they do. I won't agree with it at all, I don't see any good out of it. What's the point in going after these big recruits just to go get someone else and possibly force some of the guys we have now out? It's just a bad move IMO.
lol, Lets do look at Texas, they were not interested in RGIII or Andrew Luck, who both came out of Texas, because they were already stacked at QB.
it'd be like saying "dont take brandon weeden, alex cate is our guy. if you dont believe in alex cate, you dont believe in this team"
truth is, we have no idea which of the "3", if any, is going to excel. i think all three of them have potential and i haven't discredited that. all i'm saying is that without tons of gametime experience with this system, we are not set at the quarterback position. we wont be "set" until we have a starting underclassman that performs and returns as the starter. it cannot hurt to add one more quarterback to the mix. it will only boost the competition. if lunt, walsh or chelf were to take o'brien coming here as a slap in the face, they'd be implying that he is taking the starting spot that none of them have won themselves.
i would be fine with him coming, and fine with him not, but people should def not be mad about him expressing interest.
