Sporting News #11 on top 50 Greatest Coaches of All Time in all sports and only woman on the list
38 seasons without a losing record

Announced in 2011 that she had been diagnosed with early onset dementia, Alzheimer's type

Damn. Alzheimer's is one of the worst. Good luck to her, although I'm afraid luck won't be able to help her with what is to come. My grandfather died of it, terrible terrible thing.

One of the all time greats in the coaching game. Her and Geno Auriemma are women's basketball.

Sometimes legend is thrown around to casually, but in her case it is true. She ran her team like a men's coach runs his team. Shouting in your face, demanding all out effort. On the other hand she was supposedly like a second mother to her players. Good luck in the battle with dementia.

My Mother had alzheimers and when we look back at pictures of her in the early stages you can see it in her eyes and I saw the same look in one of Summits pictures.
