This. Medical marijuana needs to undergo the same rigorous testing for safety and efficacy as any other medication.

If we want to legalize marijuana for recreational use then let's have that discussion. But let's let medicine be medicine and work the way that every other medication works. Medical marijuana is a medical issue and not a social issue and it needs to stop being treated like a social issue. Period. End of story.
Again RxCowboy you are exactly right...their is not such thing as "Medical" marijuana. Its all marijuana. We do not yet know the long term effects of "recreational" marijuana let alone "medical" marijuana. The CDC warned recently that synthetic marijuana( a highly concentrated form of marijuana) has been reported to cause kidney failure in young users across the country. Since most users of "recreational" marijuana are not tested for declining kidney function (GFR) we do not know if "recreational"marijuana can cause kidney failure or not.

I always like the argument that marijuana is not addictive. It has THC in it and that's addictive and you can actually overdose from using too much just like any other drug.

Ask the four remaining federal legal medical marijuana patients, who the feds have been sending each 300 joints to every month for decades, how they're doing long term wise. I sure don't expect the government to want to test the state of their health for anything.

I honestly have never heard of a fatal overdose of THC. You sure can't say the same for alcohol.

Do you have any idea how many joints you would need to smoke to overdose?

It depends on many variables such as tolerance, metabolism, the strength of the marijuana, the way it was used, etc. The domestic stuff (mostly from Colorado) is a lot better than the Mexican and Canadian crap since it has more hallucinogenic properties thus more valuable.

I say to decriminalize it, if not legalize. I don't believe the Federal Government will go along unless it is controlled and taxed. That is the only real attractive method for them.

BTW it's almost impossible to smoke even the most concentrated forms of weed to overdose on THC, it is by far easier to overdose on water than it is to overdose on weed.

People like to laugh about this and all, but there's a serious side.

Scientists have conducted exhaustive studies into this. In one, a Control Group of rhesus monkeys were kept normally. A test group of rhesus monkeys were subjected to marijuana smoke continuously for a week.

At the end of the week those monkeys were totally stoned.

From what I've heard is that you'd die from smoke inhalation before you'd overdose on the wacky tobaccy...
It's true, which is why is why there isn't a single reported case of someone overdosing from smoking weed.
