I have never been a proponent of turning off any available tool of communication or eliminating any method of display. I certainly did not request turning off the user title for anyone. My words were only pointing out the inconsistencies and if the body of my words were anything they were only suggestions and not near a request to delete anything further.
You are one weird dude.

Just thought I would throw my $.02 in - not that it matters much because of my low post count.

I have never seen anyone more concerned about post counts, sig pics and other crap.

Serious question, What does it truly matter what your post count is? Does that make you a better poster if you have a higher number? Do you feel it makes you more "respected" by someone if you have a higher number?
Post counts, titles, avatars, etc., are all part of a feedback and reward system that encourages users to participate in the community by displaying measures of their investment into that community. It's the same in virtually any online community (badges, achievements, titles, metrics), regardless of the subject. I'm not sure I understand the hostile tone of your comments.

Big guy you are, sitting behind your computer launching pot shots.

Rovertosolo is a cool guy, & if he cares about post counts, why is there such a problem with that? You weren't forced to read this thread.

It would be the equivalent of me going onto the hunting forum and telling everyone they were weird for hanging dead animals on their wall. Not my thing, but I'm not going to criticize anyone for it.

Fade, clearly you mis-understand me. There is nothing "hostile" about my comments, they are genuine questions. That I seriously don't understand the uproar over the fact that the post count has been removed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you are saying these things are part of a "reward system"? So if I run out and make 5,000 post about nothing constructive or just basically have nothing to do with the subject or to bash another user in some way, I should get rewarded for my efforts? My reward is an avatar that I personally choose to begin with, a screen name that I also choose to begin with and a sig picture or what ever YOU choose to put there, that is some type of a reward?

One more thing, how is your post count part of a "feedback"?

so you are telling me that op.com took away users post counts?? Seriously? I can't believe op.com did that...

Now what stat they should have is how many hours you are logged onto the forum.

In case no one read the op, the question wasn't why were post counts removed from under everyone's avatar, it was why did his post-count get moved from 9900+ to 90. I thought it was a fair question which still hasn't been answered.

You've been able to say things X amount of times without saying something stupid enough to be run off or kicked out.
My thoughts as well.

I'll take something much more seriously from someone if I see they have at least several posts. Many trolls out there are easily identified based on their post count.

And beyond that, yes, I'll admit that it's SOMEwhat a badge of honor to be able to quantify quickly how many times I've contributed a thought to my orange brethren. I guess I don't understand why the mods see us as childish for liking the post count when they obviously thought at one point that it was cool (or at least ok) for us to have them.

But ke sera sera. I do not wish to step on any toes. I'm sure before long we won't even notice it.
