I think that is a fair amount for what he went through. Pay the man!

I thought the same thing on the amount. You know had this happened to some welfare hippie, they would have sued for $92.3 Brazillion dollars.

Its not an overly exuberant amount for what he went through and he should be paid, and it should be settled out of court.

An unusually astounding example proving how the war on drugs is really a war on people.

We need to establish a government agency to make sure this doesn't happen again!

Every failure of government is evidence of the need for more government.

No, we need an agency making sure the DEA is doing it's job. We've got to be accountable!

So the DEA is far from accountable for what it's supposed to do. Because narcs have been known to have said before on the front page of the Oklahoman that they only seize 10% of the underground drug market. So once again, is it a war on drugs, or is it really a war on people?

Someone needs to be punished, and the guy should be compensated in a big way, but not $20 million.

Sure it's an arbitrary amount and we can disagree on what it should be, but it seems a reasonable amount given punitive awards in private industry cases. 5 days without water-- he could have died.

Me thinks there should be a ginormous sarcasm sign associated with the posts offered by the good Rx, in this thread.

Ah, that is why my DEA registration fee increased from $551 to $731. Got to get the money from somewhere to pay off the idiocy lawsuits.

We need to tax rich doctors more to keep these fees down!
