I'm still going to see it. This is Hollywood we are talking about so you have to expect some PC from them, if nixing the flag planting is the worst thing they do then it's minor compared to their usual crap. I mean seriously, they could have tried to make Armstrong trans or something....you know somebody pitched the idea.

I understand that but to me it is an insult to our country which was responsible for putting the first men on the moon to not show the flag. It was a time of national pride and the flag was promently displayed when President Nixon made the historic phone call to American men on the moon.

Agreed. The only way you can affect these socialists are to hit them in their pocketbook or in the face. They don't understand anything else.

I used to go to movies all the time. Then, it became obvious that Hollywood hates people like me which is fine. They don't need my money and I certainly don't need to support an industry that makes their feelings towards conservatives abundantly clear on a daily basis.

Saw an explanation by the director and Gosling. They wanted to portray it as a human achievement as an achievement by all humanity. Showing the planting of the flag would have shown it as an American achievement.

That and it might have triggered a bunch of snowflakes and liberals.

It was an American achievement. We beat our Communist rivals in the race to the moon. Liberals can't seem to give the USA credit for anything good that we have accomplished but they have no problem pointing out the bad.

The flag is shown on the moon. Choosing to pay off the story actually told seems like a better choice than reverting to a rote recreation of the things they did on the moon.

This sounds like all of the people whose criticism of Dunkirk amounted to "I wanted Christopher Nolan to make Darkest Hour."

This "controversy" is experts at an industry playing people like a fiddle. It is funny that you guys think this is Hollywood being unpatriotic. This is Hollywood being bigger capitalists than you are. They are playing to their best customers. And, making this a "controversy" is just more free advertisement, and hence more "capitalist pig" money going to them. If they thought it would sell more tickets, they would have made the main character a CGI American flag.
