I'm not sure, I’m bothered by comparisons of so much worse Old world events to a nearly 97-9% survivability virus. God help us if we ever have a real war again...we will instantly know the difference then. Sorry it’s just a major pet peeve for me to even hear mentioned covid and WWI or II in the same paragraph. . So please please for the love of all our brave forefathers stop it with those crazy unholy comparisons.
1. If you have a problem with what I’m saying then you can just put me on ignore and hide from any opinion you don’t like.
2. Insinuating I’ve insulted our forefathers has me HOPPING mad. You don’t know jack shit about me or my family’s sacrifices for this country. I don’t bandy it about and demand praise for it, but I’m not going to sit by while it’s implied that I think COVID is anything like actual warfare. If I say anything else on this I’m going to get banned for name-calling, but just know you are so fucking far off on this point.
3. And to top this off, I DIDNT COMPARE COVID TO THE SACRIFICES MADE IN WAR. I made the point that some people prefer to do this quick, if it’s something that must be done. Could be a prize fight, could be ripping a bandaid off, take your pick. Had literally zero to do with war other than WWI was known for being slow and how that wears on people.

For Christ’s sake, man, I was throwing your side of the argument a bone. I was trying to tease out some merits of your position even though I disagree with it.

Surely of greater concern is how much crowding is allowed to go on in the bars, such as Outlaws. Crowding the streets of Stillwater? LOL. No doubt, downtown is next to dead, since the two bars are closed.

It surely goes back to the same old thing. They don't know of anyone under 30 who complained having the virus was a bummer much less hospitalized or died from it.

They also don't seem to get that having the virus explode on campus will get in person classes and most university functions shut down.

23 members of the Pi Phi house tested positive.

It’s only a matter of time.

Wow are they testing entire asymptotic fraternities and sororities? These girls just got back, that means they likely already had it when they got there and were asynptomstic. It’s only a matter of time for what? That we all have it and become immune? What does it mean that when we test we find a ton of pre existing cases that don’t even have symptoms. What does this mean for community spread and death rate? Does it mean that it has spread maybe to far more than people realize and is far less deadly? Is the test also picking up the common cold as it is also a corona virus? These types of results make me wonder about true testing accuracy again.

It’s only a matter of time until we learn that we have to live with this virus and do our best to prevent, treat, and avoid infecting those who are at high risk. It’s also only a matter of time before we have a vaccine and know enough that we are no longer engrossed by it to the extent of the mass fear we seem to have. That’s the time I’m looking forward too.

This news was already posted before. Someone got sick, got tested, tested positive, and then everyone else in the sorority basically had to get tested because they'd all had close contact.

Yes they are testing all students living on campus before they move in. Symptomatic or not. If I remember correctly they tested 4000 and had 22 cases.
I know the fraternity house I’m involved with did the same thing. I’m sure we were not the only house requiring it.

And channel 9 just showed an interview with a girl who’s now afraid because she walks by that house everyday. Doesn’t go inside just walks past. Who is the editor that looks at that and thinks this is a really good interview. Lets run it. Have to keep the fear alive!

You don’t get it?

These are freakin college students. Many will ignore the symptoms. Many will ignore safety protocols. Many will think “who cares if I get it, I’m young”. There will be outbreaks. Probably big outbreaks. Heck, there was a wedding last night in Stillwater where one of the bridesmaids attended with the virus. They didn’t tell anyone. Look for an outbreak. Yeah, it’ only a matter of time until they shut down the campus. And when the campus shuts down, good-bye football.

That dude’s Twitter feed is pure Covid fear porn.

Would I go out to a dance club now? No, well past that age. But would I go out to club, on one my first days back in Stillwater, when I was in my college years - of course.

I am how? I just said I wouldn’t do it now.

I want college football. I’ve mentioned that numerous times on this board. But I am not naive enough to think college age students won’t go out. Nor do I want that to happen to them.

Just because I want college football, I am not goin to condemn college students for being .... college students.
Stop worrying about others and take care of yourself.

You want football, then now is the time to actively encourage everyone in a college town to follow social distancing and masking.

Why shut anything down as long as the Stillwater hospital isn't overwhelmed by covid patients? Maybe older people will be more careful than ever now to counteract students not masking up and distancing.

If the media every day would focus on how sick people can get with the virus, young and old, rather than boring us with the latest case numbers and deaths, maybe the virus would be taken more seriously.

Sure I get it. People need to be safe and the authorities should shut down those who won’t be in terms of bars and other places in direct violation of current rules.

Then you agree, it’s only a matter of time.......until the the irresponsible nature of the college student will result in large outbreaks...........and administrators are forced to close the campus..............and then football is cancelled.

Maybe the city doesn't want to be subject to lawsuits and city council recalls from shutting down bars. The Oklahoma governor should be in the business of shutting down bars over a virus as he done before, since he can't be subject to a recall vote.

Well responsibility has to be enforced when the irresponsible behavior is in direct violation to the law. That bar is in violation of the law. Campus and Stillwater police need to shut down business that fails to comply in this sisuation. The kids need to be more informed and follow current law. To me it’s a much bigger deal if school gets shut down than football. They need to behave and take things seriously and follow the law. That’s the same stance I always take. Follow the law or suffer the results of that disobedience.this is the same problem I have with violent and riotous protestors.
