Ocean Explorer is a team of Swedish salvagers that go around looking for sunken treasures in the worlds oceans.

On June 19th 2011 they came across a very odd object at the bottom of the Baltic Sea but left it alone due to the high cost it would take to salvage the item at the depths at which it is located....But due to its shape (looks oddly like the Millennium Falcon) and its size (is is 180 feet wide) ...and the fact it left a 400ft long trench on the bottom of the Sea Floor from its crash....it created much buzz and donations started pouring in. The initiator of the expeditions Peter Lindberg has spent hundreds of hours looking at sonar surveys of the floors and ship wrecks of the oceans and said he has never seen anything like it

Due to the donations and the interest, they are going to go back to the location and send robots down to find out what it is

You can see the object as it appeared on the sonar in this picture..just to the left of the black line in the middle

Wouldn't it be a hoot if it actually was a Millenium Falcon replica sunk for promotional purposes for Star Wars 3D?

    err..the trench it created was 4000 feet long..not 400.

Here is a good video on it...They are going in to find out what it is in May 2012

Town is where a bunch of people call you names and try to beat you up, but not you meteorite. You could have landed anywhere but you wanted to be here with Joe Dirt.

Unfortunately it's too big to be the Millennium Falcon. The object in question is reported to be 60 meters (or metres for our non-American friends ;)), a Corellian YT-1300 light freighter (of which the Falcon is one) is only 32ish meters.

Since it had to have traveled here a long time ago from a galaxy far, far away, it very well could have gathered asteroid and meteor debris that stuck to it and therefore grew it's overall size. Then, after crashing in the ocean, coral, barnacles and sediment would have also built up on the exterior to a point that it is now 60 meters. People too often make the mistake of looking at Star Wars in the present tense, rather than recognizing it's true role as historical documentary.

While this is possible, I find it highly unlikely that the debris/sediment/sea life would grow in such a uniform fashion so as to maintain the original shape so well.

The intermittent power from the deteriorating hyperdrive would cause the shields to occasionally kick in, thereby burning off any detritus at the edge of its radius, which I would think would be in the same general shape as the Falcon itself. I wonder if they will find Han and Chewie's skeletal remains caught in an eternal loving embrace when they crack that puppy open?

I think it's naive to assume that this particular YT-1300 is the one that made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs. That particular model of freighter was one of the Corellian Engineering Corporation's most popular designs and could have belonged to anyone.

Not likely, since the Falcon and Chewie were lost in a planetary implosion.

The Falcon wasn't lost, just Chewie. And it wasn't an implosion, but rather Serpindal's moon crashing into the planet that killed the mighty Chewbacca.

Yeah, he died like 25 years after the events of Star Wars: A New Hope.
