cities pay consulting companies millions and millions to get the kind of data they are saying this thing could record in real time. And I'm betting they could make an app that could interact with that data and have a city app to go along with it etc
There is software on the market which can use cameras to detect pedestrians and track their paths. I've seen them create hot spots for business use, collect the number of pedestrians, etc.This would be a far cheaper option. Below is a similar example, but this software can detect specific individuals (think Big Government).
