Even with the police and bouncers in between them Denning was still going after him. Was Blatnick supposed to just stand there and get wailed on? When you keep going after someone and he keeps having to hit you and you keep going after him and he keeps having to hit you and you keep going after him and you have to get tazed. . . you aren't going to have a very pretty face. Maybe after the guy has kicked your ass 5 times already you should just let it go.

I disagree and am glad you aren't the coach. Perrish should have thought about the consequences which he already knew before he missed curfew again. Gundy lets that go and everyone gets the message that they can break the rules and he won't enforce the penalties.

From my perspective 5 feet away, Denning deserved it.

There is a lot more to P just missing curfew. If that was the case he would have ran some gassers and been done with it. You really need to let this one go.

Then maybe something should have been done before the last game of his college career. If it was a culmination of things...that were tolerated before....I cannot imagine that breaking curfew couldnt be tolerated one last game.

Not saying that Cox shouldnt have been punished. But I equate that punishment to the liking of not letting a Graduate walk with his classmates because he ditched class on senior day. There are always other ways of getting a message across.

And what is with all this "let it go" crap. I do not agree with it. What does letting it go have to do with anything? I still am not going to agree with it. Maybe YOU should let it go that I do not agree with it?

In instances like that...very literally the line between harmless and very severe is very thin. You cant just take a bottle and mess someone up. Under no circumstance. Blatnick could very well be lucky that whatever punishment he gets(no matter how severe) is all he gets.

It could be a lot worse. Watch Dateline. All it takes is one wrong action to take a life and to ruin your own.

Not sure it is the same.

Blatnick beat a guy who is bigger than him under the influences of whatever he had consumed. That is Intoxicated & a classic cowboys bar brawl.

DD beat someone who is not even his equal in term of size and athletic ability ....into COMA? That is BULLY.

Beer at church? Is Bingo not enough?

lf people were to lose their mind intoxicated, there is still potential of this "church brawl" to happen.....

Wow. Talk about a stretch. The poster asked what everyone thought the punishment should be. I gave my opinion. Why do you have a beef with that?

    Re: More bad news... Blatnick!!!!

It was tolerated. He was given a warning after he missed curfew the first time. He was told if he missed curfew again that he wouldn't get to play. So what did he do? He missed it again. If that game was so special to Cox, knowing it was his last ever in a Cowboy uniform, maybe he should have done the smart thing and stayed in.

You're blaming the wrong person here. Cox knew what was on the line after being given a second chance and he turned his nose up in the air and blew it anyway. He was given every opportunity to play in that game and he threw it away because he was selfish.

Also my other roommate says that Bowers is mistaken in thinking that the bottle was thrown. He says that is was broken across Dennings' face while Blatnick was being choked.

Was Patrick Swayze there along with Sam Elliott? Was a band playing behind chicken wire fence while people were being slid across the bar through a bevy of bottles and glasses?

    Re: More bad news... Blatnick!!!!

first off, i cant think of at least 3 incidents with P. that were handled internally, so he was a given more than his fair share of "second chances".
Secondly, He was given a simple warning for missing curfew the first time, with a "dont let it happen again or you wont play." He decided that he wanted to test Gundy at his word and payed the consequences. He was suspended for 1 game. It just so happened to be his last. To use your logic, it would be like OSU saying wear a black hood and gown to the graduation ceremony and him showing up in a red one. Do you think they would let a student walk like that?
Lastly, I ignored the first 10 posts that you blasted Gundy's double standard before "enlightening" you with a few more facts to help you understand that situation fully.

Is this why Blatnik entered a plea of not guilty?

Well I bet Gundy keeps him on the team. Which isn't going to look good either way. Especially because Johnson probably will be on the team too. I trust Gundy knows what he is doing and will make the right decision.

Wasn't Cox guilty of a little more than being "late" for curfew. Wasn't he like 5 1/2 hours late at 5:30 in the morning sneeking back into the hotel when some of the assisant coaches were up for a morning run? That's more than just a little late.

    Re: More bad news... Blatnick!!!!

Was Blatnick holding the bottle in his hand because he was still drinking from it when Denning grabbed his throat? Hitting Denning with the bottle already in hand would be a natural reaction. Few of us would take time to set the bottle down while being choked. Protect yourself is the first law of survival.
